Join our team and start your dance journey...

Mrs Gladwin was the founder of the Gladwin Ballet and Stage School. She started the school at the scouts hut in Guidepost over 50 years ago. She became a life time member of the BATD and created the legacy that we carry on in her name to date. She taught hundreds of pupils throughout her life before sadly passing away in 2014
Mr Laing met Mrs Gladwin in Blyth where he was the director of a show, and she was the choreographer. From there, Mr Laing joined the Gladwin Ballet and Stage School and introduced Dance Drama and European National to the timetable. Mr Laing was the director if the school for over 40 years until retiring in 2020. He sadly passed away in February 2024.
Lisa Gladwin is the daughter of Wyn and has performed all over the world and taught for many years. She ran the school alongside Mr Laing after Mrs Gladwins passing, but stepped back in 2020 to allow her daughter, Jessie Gladwin to run it as her own. Lisa still teaches along side Jess and the team of teachers that have joined the team.

To take part in any of our events, pupils must attend weekly general classes. We offer a range of styles throughout the week. Head on over to our "classes" section for more information. Head on over to 'classes' to see the styles we offer.
There are opportunities for pupils to take part in a minimum of 4 local and/or away competitions a year. If teachers think that a pupil is performing at a high standard, they may be chosen to participate in championships.
We take annual exams with the British Association of Teachers of Dancing in ballet, tap, modern and dance drama. If top marks are received, there is the possibility pupils will get chosen to compete at the BATD Scholarships
We offer the chance for all of our pupils to perform in 2 shows a year (hosted by us). As well as opportunities to perform at events up and down the country. We also audition to perform at Disneyland Paris every 3 years. Head on over to 'performances' to see all the most recent opportunities our pupils have had.
We invite industry professionals to our school to teach workshops to our pupils. This allows them to gain knowledge of the world of dance and performing arts, and they're lots of fun!
In the past we have had the likes of Matilda's Meesha Garbett and Pussycat Doll's Kimberly Wyatt teach our pupils.
We do a lot of fundraising to cover the cost of costumes and equipment etc for the pupils. We host movie nights, bake sales, pub quizzes and parties.
